LA Wildfire & Music Industry Hardship Relief - Creative Workshop
We have both workshop dates confirmed! Get career support AND help music industry folks affected by the LA wildfires and other hardships at the same time. (Workshop info coming soon — stay tuned! 🗓️)
The music community is going through so much right now. From continuous layoffs to natural disasters, industry professionals at all stages of their careers are struggling.
The FAM Music nonprofit volunteer team is coming together to meet some of these needs. Here’s how:
🧡 We’ll be hosting virtual career-readiness workshops with a suggested donation of $5 each, and 100% of the funds will support urgent music industry needs. Our fundraising goal is $1,000, and we’ll collect donations through Givebutter.
🤍 Then, we’ll donate 50% of whatever we raise to the MusiCares Foundation founded by The Recording Academy (specializing in LA wildfire crisis relief, needs-based financial assistance, and more), and 50% to Backline (specializing in mental health and wellness resources, in alignment with our mission).

Own Your Sh*t: How To Distribute Your Music (And Protect Your Creative Work)
This LIVE virtual panel presented by The FAM Music will be hosted by Via Perkins with special guests John Beeler and his artist, Mattiel! John and Mattiel will discuss the process of distribution and the pros/cons of distributing to DSPs, the importance of owning your metadata, reviewing fine print to ensure ownership of creative property, navigating distro challenges, etc. (and how to stay sane while doing all of that!).

For all our musicians and songwriters out there!! The Queer 26 is hosting a Jam Session in partnership with Secret Spot DTLA and The FAM! Come through and learn something, meet other songwriters and musicians, and jam with our house band if the spirit moves you.
During this session, we'll start off with a panel discussing how to distribute your music, insight on different distribution platforms, and general tips. After the panel, you're free to jam and/or mix and mingle! All levels are welcome.

The FAM is excited to bring you our final event of the year @ the FAMily Home in Westwood! For this event, we want to bring our mission to life with an opportunity to LEARN, CONNECT, AND PLAN for a healthier future.
This event will include both a mixer and an interactive workshop, where our guest speakers will guide you through setting goals for 2024 and monitoring goals from 2023.
We are excited to be receiving donations from Guayaki Yerba Mate, Hiyo Social Tonics, and Popl Networking for this event. Attendees will receive a FREE Popl Digital Business card to use for organic networking at this event and beyond!
