Our History.

Entrepreneurship Class Project.

It all began in an entrepreneurship class in Fall of 2016 when Founder Aaron Raus started creating a community in the music industry built around collaboration over competition. His belief that the music industry should be accessible to all and that we should all be supporting each other is the heart and soul of The FAM.

USC Club.

In the Fall of 2017, The FAM became a club at USC. This allowed us to host panels with industry professionals, interactive workshops, performances, and social events on and off-campus — all the with goal in mind to bring people together and emphasize the importance of collaboration and relationship-building.

Over the years, we have hosted almost 100 professionals from artist managers to digital marketers to A&Rs to songwriters & artists and many more to educate our community and create an open and welcoming space to connect.

Nonprofit.

At the beginning of the pandemic, Aaron began the process of turning The FAM into a nonprofit. By becoming a nonprofit, we are able to reach a wider audience, collaborate with more organizations, and guide ourselves through a larger, charitable purpose.

Our mission as a nonprofit is simple - we believe the music industry should be accessible, collaborative, and mentally healthy. Every event that we host, every conversation that we have, every relationship that we spark — they’re all meant to create a healthier more accessible music industry where we can all support each other and grow together as we express ourselves through our favorite thing — music.
